Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, who succeeded Burhan Wani as head of the militant outfit, was among the two terrorists who were shot dead during an hour-long encounter in the Tral area of South Kashmir. Bhat, who bore a reward of Rs10 lakh, was among three militants who were trapped by security forces in the Tral area of the Pulwama district. The militants fired at a patrol party of 42 Rashtriya Rifles at Hardumir at 9 pm on Friday. They succeeded in escaping from the place, when the forces returned their fire. The trio was later cornered in a gun battle following which Bhat and another militant were killed, the search operations for the third militant were still on.
