Adding to the list of Dasara release is the Sharwanand starred movie Mahanubhavudu. The Romcom was released today. It is time to take a look at it and see how it fares among the big releases.

The director should be complimented for picking up a different subject to make his film. It must be a first in Tollywood that a film on OCD complex has been made. Anand (Sharwanand) is a geek who is obsessed with cleanliness. Into his life enters Meghana (Mehrene) who works in his office. After many attempts to  woo her he finally succeeds but a incident with her dad (Nasser) creates problems between the couple. Now it is up to Anand to win his love back and for that he travels to Meghana’s small village in an attempt to do so. The rest of the story is how he wins her back and how he overcomes his problems.

Positives :-

The way the director has created the character of Anand is one of the main reason why the film manages to hold the attention of the audience. And the other point which works in favour of the film is the perfect casting as Sharwanand looks tailor made for the character. Mahreen compliments Sharwanand excellently and is not just a dumb bimbo dancing around scenic locales.Vennela Kishore also plays an important role in making the film rollicking and his comedy scenes are never over the top. Nasser too has made a good impression in his role as Meghana’s father. The comedy due to the obsessive compulsive disorder of the hero is hilarious.

The film does not have anything new to offer as such except the concept of OCD. It climax is something the makers could have made more interesting. Songs slow down the movies a bit and are not placed very well. The second half has a few repetitive scenes.

Mahanubhavudu is a nice and clean entertainer which families can watch without squirming in their seats. It is a perfect movie to see during the festival holidays. The concept of OCD works in the movie because the director has handled it very well and the humor derived from it is fresh. It is a nice festival dish served by the director and some item on it are quite new. Watch the movie, you will enjoy it.
