According to former MP V. Hanumantha Rao who conducted a poll to find out the reaction of people towards the proposal of the government to build a secretariat at the Bison Polo Ground, 97 percent of the votes polled are against it. The balloting took place at 20 places in the city. A total of 18, 460 took part in the poll and 17, 892 were against it.
Congress leader N. Uttam Kumar Reddy along with Hanumantha Rao appealed to the Chief Minister to reconsider his decision and take not of public sentiment. The people of Secunderabad which is a congested place may want to retain the last remaining open spaces and that may explain the huge opposition to the proposal.
