The prices of non-subsidised cooking gas, which customers buy after the subsidized quota is 12 cylinder is over was raised by a steep Rs. 86 per cylinder.

Congress leaders held a protest rally against the price hike in New Delhi. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted."Ordinary Indian is being ripped apart by Modiji by midnight extortion as LPG cylinders hiked by Rs 86 and small cylinder by Rs 30.50. Acche Din?”.  The "whopping rise" in prices "tells us that this Suit Boot ki Sarkar's promises to the common man were all gas and betrayal", he added.
