One of the most famous market in Hyderabad is the Laad Bazar near Charminar.  The market got its name from Laad which means Lacquer which is used to make bangle.It has innumberable big and small shops selling bangles and other ornaments. Vistors are spellbound by the sheer intricate design and artistry of the bangles. 

So what makes this market unique? Ladies who visit Hyderabad make it a point to visit this market, as there is none like it in India. Apart from Bangles Laad Bazar has scores of shop selling saris, jewellery, Kalamkari paintings ,silverwares,, antiques, traditional Khara dupattas, brocaded fabrics ,spices,  perfumes and the list goes on. The bazaar is always crowded and you the get the old world feeling when you jostle around in the crowd. 

The legend goes that the Laad Bazar was created by the Qutub Shahi Ruler Fiohammad Quli Qutab Shah at the time of his daughter’s wedding whose name was Laad. So there are two theories how it got its name. It is especially popular with the Muslim community of India who come there to purchase their wedding fineries.
