Congress loses an Opportunity in Goa

Congress, which has emerged as the single largest party in Goa, failed to take advantage of the numbers  and  the support of the regional parties to form government in the state, because its members were busy bickering over who get the post of Chief Minister.

The BJP in contrast, inspite of having won only 13 of the 40 seats, as against Congress’ 17, moved immediately and had already decided that Manohar Parrikar would return to Goa. It began discussions on Sunday, a day after the survey results were declared, gathered support of the regional parties and independent candidates and staked in order to form government.
