India and Pak to clash at ICJ

After 18 years bitter rivals India and Pakistan are set to clash in a crucial hearing on Kulbhushan Jadhav at International Court of Justice (ICJ) that is going to take place in Hauge on Monday. It is India’s contention that the conviction is contrary to the Vienna Convention of which Pakistan too is a signatory.

18 years back both countries had clashed about the shooting down of Pakistan’s maritime reconnaissance aircraft Atlantique by the IAF in the Kutch region on August 10, 1999. Sources say that Pakistan may dispute ICJ’s jurisdiction citing nation security concerns. India is going to be represented by noted lawer Harish Salve. Pakistan is in a catch 22 situation here , with its credibility under considerable strain and any action  it takes might have serious effects with its neighboring countries  who have already isolated it.
